I also knew someone who knew him. Like many German fine artisans of his generation, he was perfectionistic and it can be heard in this recorder, even though it is only made of pear. The model number above is actually an instrument number. So this is the 2055th alto made by Otto’s workshop, under his own name rather than for a larger maker and post-WWII.
