“Transitional” Alto in F by Thomas Prescott

  • Model: “Transitional” Alto in F by Thomas Prescott
  • Pitch: A = 415 Hz
  • Wood: European boxwood with brass sleeve
  • Built in: 2019
  • Ships from: UK
  • Price: 1800 €
  • Current state: A beautiful recorder in perfect condition, made two years before Prescott’s retirement, so this lovely model is no longer available. Comes with a soft Cavallaro bag. No wear to thumb-hole or other damage. Strong and open transitional sound, playing easily and clearly into the higher registers. Mostly modern “Baroque” fingering up to high F – only the B naturals need a little shading. Higher notes (F sharp will speak reliably without closing bell, and G, and higher) with variations on standard fingerings. I’m selling because I find I play repertoire for larger bored recorders at A=440, and the Prescott doesn’t get the use it deserves.
