  • Current state: A very interesting original from the early 20th century is this high basset recorder in A, now for sale from an estate. It is a jewel, for collectors and friends of old recorders. This high-pitched bass recorder (in A, i.e. a third higher than the basses in use today) plays with a beautiful timbre through all registers. The sound is very fine and balanced, interestingly it sounds baroque. The inner bore of this basset fits perfectly with the voicing, which, like everything else, is original. This recorder is a rarity and highly interesting for players and collectors alike. The recorder is a speciality of instrument making in Markneukirchen, ca. 1920, due to the rare pitch, the sophisticated sound and the exquisite construction
